Back when we found this image on the interweb both Vin Cox and I had this as our desktop images. Vin and I used to work together at a web dev agency in Plymouth. We’ve been riding, racing and tandeming together ever since. We raced the tandem at the Roc d’Azur on a suggestion from ‘Papa Dave’ of the Chodskin Indians (haha!) Mass start MTB tandem racing anyone!!??? Not our first race on the tandem but quite a challenge was in Martyn Salt’s Newnham 24/12 on the edge of Plymouth. We did the full 24 hours and even though we used Vin’s heavily modified tandem (that was his and his Wife’s wedding present to themselves), we also had mine and my Wife’s tandem as backup. Ah, we’ll ride again.
I’m so easily distracted! Back to the design. The fella on the design is an old pilot and aeroplane piloting pioneer. He lived in the south of Queensland and (at the time of writing this) isn’t too far from where I am right now. The original of this photo is actually kept at a museum in Brisbane so I’m really hoping I can see it in the flesh sometime soon.
